A pork-less Life

pork free

As the Sabbath  Friday Vespers begins… l am forced to think which Sabbath lunch to prepare and it is making me hungry! Nevertheless, today i would like to comment and put in writing my opinion and bash some myths regarding my pork-less life!

Whether you’re a lifelong vegetarian or recently decided to give the meat-free thing a try or even just do not eat certain food stuffs, you’ve probably noticed people love to comment on your eating habits. It’s like they take your decision not to eat meat ~personally~ or something! Mostly everyone has a friend who for goes certain things, so why are there still SO many questions and unwelcome comments? Here are 13 things that every vegetarian is sick of hearing.

Ridiculous reasons for not eating pig

pigs2

New International Version Mathew 8:31
The demons begged Jesus, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.”

I mean… can we be serious? Obviously the pigs drowned and died thus it would be irrelevant and nonsensical to base not eating something because of this. Even the demons knew that humans would not eat pigs hence they opted to go and “posses them”. The question should actually be… should we eat fish? Where did they go to when the pigs died? Is that where mermaids come from?

Real reason for not eating pig

aaagf_300New International Version Deuteronomy 14:8 The pig is also unclean; although it has a divided hoof, it does not chew the cud. You are not to eat their meat or touch their carcasses. (This does not need further enlightenment)

Yes, l have eaten pork products when l was younger and not enlightened. (l tasted pork polony in Grade 5!!) To this day l believe l am not missing out on anything. The point is, everyone is allowed to eat whatever they like without being made to feel bad for saving a pig’s life!

Happy Sabbath everyone!

Lots of love

Lynn
